Top 10 Tuesday: Let’s go to the beach, each. Let’s go get away!

Hello, bookworms! How are you, my dear friends?

What do you think about the title? When I saw the theme for this week, I immediately thought of this song!

I don’t even remember the last time I posted something related to this weekly meme! I kind of gave up doing this meme because it’s a little bit long ( I mean, I have to talk about 10 books). Don’t get me wrong, after all, it’s a really cool weekly challenge, but I didn’t have time to post it before because of college. But since I have already started my summer vacations, I think it’s time to post this weekly meme again!

Here’s a little introduction about the meme, which was created by The Broke and the Bookish:

“Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We’d love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!
Each week we will post a new Top Ten list  that one of our bloggers here at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND add your name to the Linky widget so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists! If you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Have fun with it! It’s a fun way to get to know your fellow bloggers.”
Those paragraphs were taken from The Broke and the Bookish. For more information, here’s the post.

This week, we have to talk about Beach Reads Week! Here are your choices for today: top ten great beach reads, ten books I plan to read on the beach, ten beach reads for those who don’t like typical ~beach reads~, ten authors who are my go-to for beach reads, etc.
I choose: Ten books I plan to read on the beach, even though I don’t go to the beach because I live near a natural swimming pool. How cool is that?

1. The 100, by Kass Morgan: Have you watched the book-to-TV show adaptation of The 100? IT’S AMAZING AND I LOVE IT! It makes me sad that I haven’t watched season 3 yet… Anyway, I really want to read this book soon. Yes, I know many people say that, in this case, the tv show is way better than the book, but I still want to read it. It’s sci-fi, I mean, of course I’m going to read it!

2. The Bone Season, by Samantha Shannon: Yesssss, I will finally read this. Soon. Ish.
Ok, I really want to see why her publisher said she is the next J.K. Rowling, even though people have already said this is not true, but she is still a talented writer. Anyway, I’m really excited about this book!

3. The Catcher in the Rye, by J. D. Salinger: I know this a book you either love or hate, so I’m really curious about this classic!

4. Daughter of Smoke and Bone, by Laini Taylor: It has been a while since I read a book about angels and forbidden love, so I can’t wait to read it!! And everyone says good things about Laini Taylor’s writing!

5. The Selection, by Kiera Cass: On Instagram, I asked if I should read this and, of course, many people said yes because it’s a good dystopian book that has a mix of royalty and the tv show The Banchelor (I’ve never watched it, but I know its concept). I said that maybe I would ordered an English copy, but I think I want to order books I really want, so I’m going to read it in Portuguese (my mom is a librarian, so I’ll ask her to bring this one home) since the first 3 books are already out here in Portugal and the 4th book is released in June.

The Selection (The Selection, #1)

6. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, by Seth Grahame-Smith: Another book from the library! As I said, I love Pride and Prejudice! Also, I love zombies, so I should read this book this summer!

7. The Longest Ride, by Nicholas Sparks: Whenever someone talks about Nicholas Sparks near me, I always say that I don’t love him, but I don’t hate him either, and yet I have, like, 5 or 6 books written by him. Ops. Anyway, I’m really curious about this one since it has 2 couples instead of what Nicholas Sparks usually writes, which is one couple and someone close to them, or one of them, dies and there are other sad things, etc. Of course this also has sad moments and I’m sure someone dies, but it’s kind of different from his other books, right?

Now, let’s talk about the last 3 books of The Mortal Instruments series, by Cassandra Clare!!!

8. City of Fallen Angels: I actually started it last September, but I had to stop reading it when I found out that college would start earlier that I thought. Now, I can finish!!!

9. City of Lost Souls

10. City of Heavenly Fire: So, many people say that this one will give me all the feels. Oh, boy.

City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments, #6)

Of course, these aren’t the only books I want to read this summer! I just randomly chose  10 books from my Summer TBR. I have more than 30 books to read this Summer, don’t worry!

Now, let me ask you this: what books are you definitely going to read on the beach?

I hope you enjoyed this post! Later, I want to post a little bookish tag that I actually should have written yesterday, but I decided not to. So, see you soon!

Captain America Civil War Book Tag!

Hello, bookworms! Happy Monday!

Let’s start this week with a cool book tag! I was tagged by Cristina, from @MyTinyObsessions, to answer the Captain America Civil War book tag! Thank you, Cristina! The creator of this tag is Jennifer from @WonderlandReview.

I have watched the movie and it was SO FREAKING COOL! I LOVED EVERYTHING! It was a delightful surprise to see Spider-Man. I mean, of course I knew he would be there, but I really liked the actor, Tom Holland. He was great!

I’m excited to answer this, so let’s do it!

The Rules:

  • Thank the person who tagged you. – Once again, thank you, Cristina!
  • Tag anyone and everyone you want!

Disclaimer: Jennifer’s pretty sure about the actual teams for this movie but she could be wrong! You never know! Also, she’s very much Team Cap so this might be a little biased.

Team Captain America:

Captain America: Name a character who always does the right thing. (If you aren’t team Cap I guess you can change this to ‘a character who always thinks he does the right thing’).

Ok, I do like Tony Stark. Also, I don’t read comic books, so I don’t know much about these characters, only what I see in the movies, but I think I’m Team Cap. I do understand Tony’s decision in Civil War, but honestly, they can’t control what they do when they fight, right? The government shouldn’t tear them apart because of that. I mean, it’s not their fault. I guess.

Anyway, I think Katniss Everdeen (The Hunger Games trilogy) does the right thing, or at least, she tries. She’s amazing and one of my favorite characters ever.

Falcon: A loyal character.

I really like Falcon. Well, at least, in the movies. That’s why I want to read comic books! I want to know more about these characters! They are so fascinating!

Ron Weasleyyyyyyyyyyyy (Harry Potter series)!!!! He loves Harry so much and he would do anything for his best friend!

Hawkeye: A character that is extremely good at something very specific (Like Hawkeye with his bow).

Why are there so many people that see Hawkeye is useless? Are you mad? He is brilliant! By the way, I liked that moment when he introduced himself to Black Panther. Amazing.

arrow hawkeye antman

I’m not going to say Katniss again, but Finnick Odair (also from The Hunger Games trilogy) is pretty good when he fights with his trident.

Ant-Man: A character that’s just happy to tag along.

I haven’t watched the Ant-Man movie, by the way. Howver, from what I saw in Civil War, he is wonderful!

I mean, for those who have watch Civil War- this scene:

Maybe Neville Longbottom (Harry Potter series)? I think he gets pretty excited when people trust in him and he just likes to help, you know?

neville longbottom matthew lewis harry potter and the deathly hallows harry potter and the deathly hallows part 2 dh2

Agent 13: A character you’re super nervous about (not going to say why, but I have my reasons).

She doesn’t deserve the hat she is getting just because she kissed Captain America. She is so badass in her own her and all people care about is that she is ruining your ship (Cap+Bucky)? Really? This fierce can fight and she is very smart. Deal with it.

Anyway, I’m nervous about what is going to happen to Feyre (A Court of Thorns and Roses trilogy) in A Court of Mist and Fury. I love her and I don’t want her to suffer anymore, but I have read some spoilers (of course) and she is going to suffer a little bit more and I’m just… Just leave my baby alone! However, I know she is strong and fierce and I know she will fight harder and I can’t wait to see her being badass again.

This fanart looks amazing!

Winter Soldier: A character with really great positive character growth.

Bucky doesn’t deserve what he suffers in Civil War. While I was watching the movie, all I wanted to do was hug him and tell he will be fine. My poor cinnamon roll, too good for this world, too pure!

I have said this in other tags and I’m going to repeat: Darrow from Red Rising trilogy. I only read the first book, but damn. THE CARACTHER DEVELOPMENT IS ASTONISHING!

If you have read Red Rising, you will understand this fanart, of course.

Scarlet Witch: A character that started out on the wrong side but ended up joining the team.

I haven’t watched The Avenger: Age of Ultron either, so I don’t know much about Scarlet Witch. Anyway, I really liked her in Civil War. It made me sad when she felt bad for what she did in the beggining of the movie.

Can I do the opposite? I can’t remember who started on the wrong side, but ended being good… I probably have read this kind of characters, but I can’t remember right now. So, I choose someone who I thought was good, but he’s actually bad: Sebastian, from The Mortal Instruments series. He’s pure evil, even worse than his father, I guess (I have only read the first 3 books, by the way!).

Many fanarts were too spoilery, so… That’s the only one I liked that didn’t have spoilers.

Bonus: Winter Soldier & Captain America: Two characters that have been friends for a long time.

Yesssssss! I love their friendship, you have no idea! They are so loyal to each other!

captain america civil war steve rogers bucky barnes captainamericaedit

Once again, The Mortal Instruments series! Clary and Simon have been friends since they were kids! They had some trouble in the first 3 books (and I’m sure they will have more in the other 3 books), but they help each other out and they love each other a lot.

Team Iron Man:

Spider Man is not here, by the way.

Iron Man: A character that doesn’t seem to learn from their mistakes (*Fine. If you’re team Iron Man you can change this question to, ‘a character willing to stand up to his friends for what he believes in’).

I don’t think Iron Man committed mistakes (I’m talking about Civil War, not Iron Man as character because I’ve never read the comic books) because, after all, he was defending what he thought was right and I actually understand his point of view, of course.

Peter from the Divergent trilogy. Bro, why can’t you understand that you can’t mess with Tris or Four, or both of them together? Hahahah.

By the way,I actually like the movie version of Peter. I think that’s pretty much the only good thing of these movies.

miles teller divergent insurgent tris prior tobias eaton

War Machine: A character that’s always showing off his “big guns.”

All I know about War Machine is what I saw in Civil War. Ops.

RHYSAND (A Court of Thorns and Roses trilogy)! He is such a show-off, but I love him so much!

Amy from Gone Girl. That’s a whole new level of revenge! The things she did to punish her husband… Damn…
I haven’t watched the movie, tho.

Vision: A character you are unsure about.

Damn it, I should have watched Age of Ultron already, so that I could know more about Vision! But I think he is a very interesting character!
I really don’t understand why evryone loves Étienne St.Clair from Anna and the French Kiss. Yes, it’s cool to have a French name. It’s cool to have British accent, even though he is American. BUT HE IS A CHEATER and he didn’t do a damn thing to help Anna when everyone was literally bullying her! He’s not a bad guy, of course not. However, he’s not the cute kitten everyone seems to love.

Spider-Man: A character you were afraid just wasn’t going to fit in.

YESSSSSSSSSSS, SPIDEY!!!!! HE SLAYED THAT MOVIE, TOO!!!! I swear to God that Tom Holland was freaking fantastic! OMG *swoon*. Also, every single line was just perfect. Damn, so good!
Charlie from The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I really loved Charlie, my poor sweet boy. I was so mad that people couldn’t really see him (well, he’s a wallflower, that’s point). I mean, he is such a good guy and he went through a lot and I was afraid that he wouldn’t fit in high school. My first year as a high school was pretty normal because in Portugal we don’t have that kind of environment like in USA, but I do know that in US it must be hard. I’m glad that Charlie eventually met amazing people that could understand him and help him.
Can I just say that everyone in the book-to-movie adaptation did such a phenomenal job? Especially Logan Lerman. God, I love him! **

Pepper Potts (pretty sure she isn’t in this movie, but whatever): A character who uses their intelligence.
That’s not really a spoiler since we don’t even see her in the trailers, but she isn’t in this movie.

Bonus- Captain America vs. Iron Man: You pick Name two characters that started off as friends and are now enemies or name two characters that are on opposing sides that you want to work together.

I choose the second option: Celia and Marco from The Night Circus. They eventually worked together… Sort of. If you haven’t read it, now you have to read to find out why I said that 😉

I tag:
Jacquie and Gina @rattlethestarssite
And whoever wants to do this tag!!

I hope you enjoyed this post! See you soon!!!

Book Traveling Thursdays- MAKE THIS HAPPEN, PLEASE!

Hello again, bookworms! I told you I would write a weekly meme post!

Seriously, if you don’t participate in this weekly meme, you should! It’s awesome to search covers from other countries and compare them to the original cover! I think it’s cool.

Book Traveling Thursdays is a weekly meme that was created by Cátia @The Girl Who Read Too Much and Danielle @Danielle’s Book Blog. All you have to do is to post covers of a book related to that week’s theme, which you can see at the Goodreads group. You have to post the original cover, the one that exists in your country, and finally your favorite covers and least favorite ones.

I should have posted yesterday, but I had already written 2 posts and I decided to post this weekly meme today.

The theme for this week is: Choose a book you would want to see as a movie or TV show.

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan, I haven’t read the whole trilogy, but someone should definitely make a book-to-movie adaptation of Red Rising, by Pierce Brown! That book is SPECTACULAR! It’s one of the best Sci-Fi books I have read because it has everything: amazing writing style, the plot is freaking fantastic, and let’s talk about the character development! DAMN!

Yes, I need a Red Rising movie. Like… NOW!

Original cover: It’s a very simple cover, but I still like it!

Red Rising (Red Rising, #1)

Cover from your country (Portugal): IT LOOKS SO GOOD, DON’T YOU THINK?

Favorite cover(s): The Portuguese cover is a winner!

Least favorite cover(s):

  1. Polish edition (So. Damn. Weird.)
  2. Romanian edition (this doesn’t even have Sci-Fi vibes)
  3. Serbian edition (meh)

Red Rising: Złota krew (Red Rising, #1)

Furia Roșie (Red Rising Trilogy, #1)

Uspon Crvenog (Red Rising Trilogy, #1)

That’s it for today! What book(s) would you like to see as a movie or a tv show?

The Bookish Scenarios Tag

Hello, bookworms! I hope you are having a lovely Friday!
Today I bring you another book tag, of course! This time, I was tagged (a long time ago) by Cátia @thegirlwhoreadtoomuch to asnwer the bookish scenarios tag!! Thank you so much, Cátia!

yay school what college minions

1st scenario: You have to get rid of all your books and you can only keep one from each of these genres – contemporary, fantasy, non-fiction and one other genre of your choosing. What books do you keep?

Anyway, this is just an hypothetical situation, so…

Contemporary: The Perks of Being a Wallflower can’t be considered as a contemporary novel because it’s set during the 90s, right? Well, I don’t read many contemporary books… Maybe The Fault in Our Stars, then.

The 1st Portuguese edition of TFIOS.

Fantasy– Ok, let me keep theHarry Potter series. Let’s pretend that all the seven books are in one book ahahahah.

Non-fictionThe Diary of a Young Girl, by Anne Frank. I have no doubts in this one. Anne Frank was and still is a very special girl.

O Diário de Anne Frank
One of the Portuguese editions.

I choose Science Fiction: Many people don’t know this, but dystopian books belong to the Sci-Fi genre, so… The Hunger Games!

2nd scenario: You’re at the bookstore and you hear a teenager telling their mom they don’t like to read, but their mom insists they pick something. You walk over and recommend a book you think is great for people who aren’t big on reading – what book is it?

3rd scenario: You’re not feeling yourself and need a pick me up. Which book do you read to put yourself in a great mood?

I think The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians #1) would be a good choice! I actually need to read it again sometime soon!

Portuguese movie tie-in edition.

4th scenario: You go back in time for a day to your child-hood years. What book would you most likely have caught yourself reading?

In Portugal, they are known as Anita’s books! Now, they changed it too Martine… What the hell?

Literal Translation: Anita in the Country of Fairy Tales. I think it would sound better as Anita in the Land of Fairy Tales.

5th scenario: Your friend surprises you with a 4 day trip and you have 1 hour to pack. Which book do you bring to read on the way?

Can we talk about books we haven’t read yet? If so, I would choose The Final Empire, by Brandon Sanderson. It has, 6024 pages (I’m talking about the Portuguese edition) and it’s Fantasy, which is one of my favorite genres, so it could be a good choice for this scenario!

By the way, here’s the Portuguese edition, which is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!

6th scenario: Your house has been robbed! Don’t worry – everyone is safe, but your bookshelf has been raided. What’s the book you really hope is safe?

I. can’t. CHOOSE. HELL. NO.

jennifer lawrence hell no oh hell no
God bless you, Jennifer!

7th scenario: Your friend borrows a book and returns it in awful condition. Do you a) Just pretend you haven’t noticed b) Ask them to repurchase it or c) Secretly do the same to something of theirs?

Option B, of course! You know why? Here’s this gif as an answer:

Damn, right!

I tag….  Everyone! Well, if you want to do this, of course!

I’ll come back later for another post. This time, it’s a weekly meme post that I haven’t done since ages ago.

See you soon!!!

More books about Magnus Bane in 2017!

Yesterday on her social media, Cassandra Clare teased her fans by saying that she has a special project envolving a fan-favorite character, Magnus Banes, the High Warlock of Brooklyn.

Guyssss, Harry Shum Jr. is doing such a good job portraying Magnus Bane! ❤

Today, Entertainment Weekly announced Clare’s new project: she is going to write an Adul trilogy about Magnus Bane with Wesley Chu as co-writer. Chu is mostly known as the author of The Lives of Tao.

It was also confimed that the first book of this new trilogy is going to be released in November 2017.

Cassandra Clare has stated that she had explored Magnus Bane’s life in The Bane Chronicles, a book with eleven short stories written by Cassandra Clare, Maureen Johnson and Sarah Rees Brennana. Now, knowing that the fans love this “fun and fascinating” character, who is full of secrets of his parentage and the beginning of his relationship with Alec Lightwood, another loved character from Clare’s Shadowhunters novels, the author wants to explore more about this amazing Warlock with a fantastic personality.

The co-writer of this new trilogy, Wesley Chu, has expressed his excitement, saying that he is glad “to contribute to the world that Cassandra Clare has created”.

Well, I honestly can’t wait to see more of this character, despite the fact that I have only read the first three books of The Mortal Instruments series. I’m going to read the other three books this summer. I’m happy that I have someone in mind as Magnus Bane. Harry Shum Jr. is doing an incredible job and I think I guess say that the fans are definitely loving him.

Many fans are very happy with this new project. After all, it’s an Adult trilogy about the incredible Magnus Bane! However, there are some readers that have said that Cassandra Clare just wants more money. They say she is taking advantage of her LGBTQ fans by writing this trilogy about a bissexual character that has helped many LGBTQ people in real life. What I am trying to say is that she is only writing about Magnus Bane because she knows she can get more money from fans that can relate with this character.

I must say that I understand the readers that have this opinion, but let’s say that this is also something that many fans have asked for. It is no lie to say that Cassandra Clare’s fandom loves Magnus Bane, so I do believe that she is doing this not only for the money. But I also must say that she has been giving to much attention to Magnus and Alec, mostly, once again, because of their sexuality. I do think it’s amazing to have LGBTQ characters in literature, but when an author is trying to get money through them? Hmmm.

Anyway, I do believe that Cassandra Clare loves her characters and I do know that many people are happy with this news.

Well, what do you think of this new project? Do you also think that she is only doing this to get more money? Or because she loves her fans and wants to give them what they want? I mean, I guess it’s a little bit of both, right? Anyway, you can leave a comment about your opinion on this new trilogy!

The “I messed up” book tag

Yayyyy, another post, another book tag!!! I told you I would post some things today!

Cristina from @MyTinyObsessions tagged me again, but this time I have to answer the “I messed up” book tag. Thank you, Cristina!

Cátia, from @thegirlwhoreadtoomuch, also tagged me! Thank you!!! ^^

modern family gif web development messed up gif

Hmmmm… Rhysand, from A Court of Thorns and Roses trilogy, by Sarah J. Maas.
Ok, let me explain this… It seems that Rhysand, a High Fae, in human years, would be in his twenties. But, for me, the perfect Rhysand is Benedict Cumberbatch! There, I said it! I just love Benedict and when Feyre described Rhysand, I immediatly thought that Ben would be amazing as Rhysand! People say he looks like an alien, but I don’t care about the haters and I think Benedict Cumberbatch is a very handsome man. Deal with it.

By the way, I do love fanart of Rhysand! People are so talented, omg!

Benedict Cumberbatch.:

Never trust a duck:
I LOVE THIS FANART! *heart eyes*

Pfff, so many! For example, I’m sure I don’t know how to pronounce Feyre (A Court of Thorns and Roses).

Some people have already read the sequel of ACOTAR, A Court of Mist and Fury, and everyone is saying that ACOMAF is even better than the first book! I mean, the first book was fantastic ( I gave it 5/5 stars). So, am I going to die once I read ACOMAF? Holy crap!

Never trust a duck:

If they are well done: love triangles!

I also love hate-to-love stories! Ahahhahah, they are fascinating, c’mon!

Maybe the sassy characters? I love them when I read them, but damn… It’s so good to see that on screen!

sassy snap

I have no idea. I mean, “may the odds be ever in you favor” is not, like, an official phrase, but I do say it a lot!

Hahahahahha! For highschool, I have always finished the books I had to read. However, this year, in college… There are some books I didn’t have time to finish, but I really want to read them anyway! For example, I haven’t finished Utopia, by Thomas More, and I didn’t even start The Island of Doctor Moreau, by H.G. Wells. Also, I really want to read Hard Times, by Charles Dickens.

Oh, Amy Pond… THE FEELS!

No, I don’t think so.

No. but it’s not like I have many social plans. *crying a river*

cry me a river justin timberlake

Ok, that’s it for now, I guess! Maybe I’m going to post another book tag later, but I’m not sure. See you soon!!!

The Book Sacrifice Tag

Ok, so, I only have book tags to answer and I love book tags! There are so many that are so creative! I have seen this one many times on Internet and I’m glad @MyTinyObsessions tagges me to answer The Book Sacrifice Tag! Thank you, Cristina

So, here we go!

  1. An over-hyped book- Situation: You’re in a store when the zombie apocalypse hits. The military informs everyone that over-hyped books are the zombies only weakness. What book that everyone else says is amazing but you disliked do you start chucking at the zombies?

I tried to post a gif that wasn’t really disgusting, even though I LVOE THE WALKING DEAD! But I don’t know if you like this kind of thing, so I posted this gif that is actually not that bad… I guess.

Ok, everyone says that The Tiger’s Curse, by Colleen Houck, is amazing! I mean, just go to Goodreads and you will see that there are people that give it 4 and 5 stars! However, I’m glad there are still some people that have some sense and gave it 1 or 2 stars…. Seriously, I don’t understand how people love this book… I really tried not to talk badly about a book that maybe you love and I do understand if you love it, I mean, it’s what you love and it’s none of my business… But I really didn’t like it and I think its writing is poor and the plot is boring.

The cover is so pretty! But the story and the characters… not so much.

  2. A sequel- Situation: torrential downpour. What sequel are you willing to use as an umbrella to protect yourself?

Hmmm…. I have no idea… Oh, wait, can I say Breaking Dawn, by Stephenie Meyer, even though I didn’t read the other books? Yeah, let’s keep that one here. I really didn’t like it.

  3. A classic- Situation: You’re in English class and your professor raves about a Classic that “transcends time”. If given the opportunity to travel back in time, which Classic would you try to stop from ever publishing?

Oh, my… Here in Portugal, of course we have to talk about Portuguese classics, but some of them are really boring… Like the one about the Maias family! Os Maias (Portuguese title), by Eça de Queirós, has too many details and the descriptions are, well… Detailed. Too much, actually. I’m not saying Eça is a bad writer. After all, I do recognise his talent and, I mean, he is one of the greatest writers that my country has ever had! But, oh, God… This book….

  4. A least favourite book- Situation: apparently global warming = suddenly frozen wasteland. Your only hope of survival for warmth is to burn a book. Which book will you not regret lighting?

You mean, a book that I actually like, but not as much as other books? Ok, maybe The Maze Runner. I really enjoyed the first two books, but I haven’t read the third one. Anyway, despite the fact that I enjoyed it, I wouldn’t mind burn it to keep me warm. Althought…. I mean… Burning a book??? Poor thing…

    Portuguese edition.

So, that’s it! Now, let’s see who I tag:

Sara @FreadomLibrary

Mariana @fireheartbooks

I think I’m going to post another book tag today! See you soon!

Hello, bookworms! I know, I know… It’s been a while… I’m sorry I didn’t write a post to explain to you why I had to stay away from my blog, but I think you probably know… May is my last month of college, so I had exams and I had to study so many things at the same time and I thought I would freak out, but I’m alright now! My summer vacations should start tomorrow, which means today was my last day, but I decided not to go to college since I only had one class, so… I regret nothing!

I said blogs because I also have a Portuguese bookish blog and I think it already has some dust and spiders all over it… Poor thing…

This was my first year as a college student and it was quite a challenge! There were times I cried, there were times when all I wanted to do was go to bed and sleep, there were many times I freaked out because of some teachers… But whatever, here I am again and I’m free and I can’t wait for summer to arrive! I am already happy that I’ve started my vacation, of course, but it has been raining lately and the sun isn’t showing up much and yes, I kind of need summer.

Anyway, now that I have explained to you why I was absent, I can tell you that I don’t have any book reviews to post here because many books I read were in Portuguese or for college and I made a promise to myself that I would never write reviews about classics because I feel like I may write something wrong… However, I do have lots of book tags and some awards to post here!!

Well, all I have to say now is: Hello, vacation! Hello, blog! And, guys… Did you miss me?? 😉

Veronica Roth is back!!!

Hello, bookworms! How are you? So, my final exams are coming (it’s not next week, it’s the other week after) and I’m already feeling anxious because ugh, THE PRESSURE! Anyway, let’s enjoy these last days of peacefulness, shall we? What if I talk about a very interesting bookish news? Yes, that sounds nice!

By the way, I’m not going to post my Book Traveling Thursday this week because the theme is about a book that made me laugh and I have never read such book. Of coruse there are books that have made me laugh, but I think that, for this theme, I should talk about a book that is kind of about comedy or something.

Anyway, this post is about a very well one author and a book that you probably have heard about if you haven’t read it yet (like me)!

Ok, let’s talk about Veronica Roth’s new book!

She has been teasing us a lot with her book. For awhile, she said it had Star Wars vibes and it takes place in space. Then, she kind of released a synopsis. Now, we have an official synopsis, a title, a beautiful cover and the release date! Wow, Veronica!

Here’s the cover:

CARVE THE MARK by Veronica Roth - on sale January 17, 2017

We all know Veronica Roth because she wrote the amazing trilogy Divergent, which has a dystopian setting. You could see some fantastic details in Divergent covers and they looked pretty futuristic, so maybe some people say this cover may be pretty, but it doesn’t look like it’s a Sci-fi that takes place in space. I mean, I understand if there are people that think like that, but, honestly, I think it’s so beautiful! I’m pretty sure that, once we have read the book, we will know why this cover looks, well… Like this! I do think it looks like a Sci-Fi novel! The blue looks like the space full of stars and those goldish details look interesting and pretty! Oh, man, I need this book!

And let’s talk about that title… Carve the Mark… Oh, damn, it souns so GOOD!!!! Once again, I can’t wait to understand why Veronica chose this title!

Now, here’s the synopsis:

On a planet where violence and vengeance rule, in a galaxy where some are favored by fate, everyone develops a currentgift, a unique power meant to shape the future. While most benefit from their currentgifts, Akos and Cyra do not — their gifts make them vulnerable to others’ control. Can they reclaim their gifts, their fates, and their lives, and reset the balance of power in this world?

Cyra is the sister of the brutal tyrant who rules the Shotet people. Cyra’s currentgift gives her pain and power — something her brother exploits, using her to torture his enemies. But Cyra is much more than just a blade in her brother’s hand: she is resilient, quick on her feet, and smarter than he knows.

Akos is from the peace-loving nation of Thuve, and his loyalty to his family is limitless. Though protected by his unusual currentgift, once Akos and his brother are captured by enemy Shotet soldiers, Akos is desperate to get his brother out alive — no matter what the cost. When Akos is thrust into Cyra’s world, the enmity between their countries and families seems insurmountable. They must decide to help each other to survive — or to destroy one another.

Well, now we know why Veronica said that her new book looks a little bit like Star Wars. By the way, I became a Star Wars fan last year, in December! I watched episodes IV, V and VI before I went to the cinema with my BFF to watch episode VII, which was FREAKING AWESOME! I’m still a Padawan, tho. I don’t know much about Star Wars yet and I haven’t watched the prequels (which many people don’t like, but I still want to watch them, of course).

Anyway, I have been looking for stories that sound a little bit like Star Wars and I think I have found the ONE! I mean, of course Carve the Mark isn’t going to be Star Wars, but it takes place in space and it seems we have these badass characters with special skills. So, yes, this story seems cool!

Now, we still have to wait a little bit longer for this book… It’s coming out on 17th January 2017! HOLY CR*P, IT’S 2 DAYS BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY! I FEEL BLESSED!

please lion king simba

Let’s hope my father gives it to me next year aahahah. So, what do you think of Carve the Mark? Do you want to read it? What do you think about the cover and the title?
