Book Traveling Thursdays-MUSIC IS LIFE!

Hello, bookworms! How are you?

I didn’t post this weekly meme on Thursday because it was kind of a busy day for me. But here it is now!

Book Traveling Thursdays is a weekly meme that was created by Cátia @The Girl Who Read Too Much and Danielle @Danielle’s Book Blog. All you have to do is to post covers of a book related to that week’s theme, which you can see at the Goodreads group. You have to post the original cover, the one that exists in your country, and finally your favorite covers and least favorite ones.

The theme for this week is: Everyone loves music. Choose a book where music is a big part of the story.

The first that came to my mind was If I Stay, by Gayle Forman. The main character plays cello and it’s one of the most important things in her life.

Original cover: I think the cover with a flower was the first cover, while the second one came after because it’s a paperback edition.

Cover from your country (Portugal): My country has 3 different covers, I think.

I have the first cover, which it’s much better than the original US cover, I think.

Movie tie-in edition. It looks so pretty!

Favorite cover: I wish I had the movie tie-in edition!

Least favorite covers: I still can’t believe that there are so many ugly covers out there…

Ha maradnék
Hungarian edition
Als ik blijf
Dutch edition

Če ostanem
Slovenian edition

That’s it for today! I think I’ll write some posts about some recent bookish news, but I’m not sure since my Canadian cousin is in my house and he is going to stay here for two weeks and some days, so  I’ll be busy. But I’ll definitely try!

See you soon!

Book Traveling Thursdays- Love at first sight!

Hello, bookworms! How are you? I hope you are enjoying summer! For those who are facing winter, I hope you have enough blankets and hot chocolate!

A few days ago, I wrote a post about how difficult it was to choose the books I would like to order this month since my father wanted to buy me books because I had good grades in my first year as a college student. In that post, I had 3 options and, as many people chose, I decided to order option 2:

My dad ordered: Winter (The Lunar Chronicles #4) plus a very cheap edition of The Adventures and Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes= 14.9€

I ordered: Cress (The Lunar Chronicles #3) plus a very cheap edition of A Study in Scarlet and The Sign of Four (even though they are two different stories, this edition has these stories in one single book) plus another very cheap edition of The Hound of the Baskervilles and The Valley of Fear (once again, two stories in one book)= 15.3€

I really can’t wait to get all these books!

Now, let’s talk about a book that has a beautiful cover because it’s Book Travelling Thursdays time!

The theme for this week is: Book with an Eye Candy Cover. Choose a book that you read/bought because of the cover.

There are some books that I bought because I loved the covers, but there’s one in particular that totally took my breat awayyyyyy. Joking, but it’s such a BEAUTIFUL COVER!!!!!

By the way, I am talking about The Winner’s Curse, by Marie Rutkoski. I haven’t read it yet, but I hope I read it in August, even thought I’m not sure yet what I am going to read this month because I have been on a reading slump. I actually haven’t finished the 2 last books of June…. Ughhhhhh, get out of here, reading slump!

Original cover:

The Winner's Curse (The Winner's Trilogy, #1)
US edition. I actually own the UK edition since I order lots of books on Book Depository.

Cover from your country (Portugal): This book is coming out this month! I found out about this a couple of days ago and I was so happy when I saw the cover because it kind of looks like the UK edition, which is so PRETTY! I am glad that they didn’t, like, try to do a new cover. It wouldn’t work well, honestly.

For my Portuguese readers, the Portuguese edition is coming out on July 18th.

A Maldição do Vencedor (The Winner's Trilogy, #1)

Favorite covers: Even though I love the US edition, I think I love UK edition even more. Maybe it’s because of the background, I don’t know.

The Winner's Curse (The Winner's Trilogy, #1)

The Portuguese cover is now one of my favorites as well.

Least favorite cover: I don’t hate this cover. Actually, I love it! However, I really prefer the original covers because they have this girly and badass vibes at the same time, which is cool because it shows that being feminine and being badass can coexist. Now, about this alternative cover, you just see the usual YA Fantasy cover that has a girl as the main character.

But, as I said, it’s still a beautiful cover!

The Winner's Curse (The Winner's Trilogy, #1)

What about you? What book(s) did you buy/read because you simply loved its (their) cover(s)?

Book Traveling Thursday: Fave read of 2016 (so far!)

Heyyyyy, bookworms! How are you? I hope you are all well! I have been feeling fantastic lately! My diet is actually working and I lost 1 kilo and 700 in one week thanks to healthy food only! For those who don’t use kilos, I lost 3 pounds and something.

This was also a good week because I went to a book launch session yesterday and it was really good! I got two books signed and I talked to the author. He was really nice and easy to talk to!

Yes, it was a nice week! Unfortunately, my reading slump is killing me…

Anyway, I should write a BTT post! I haven’t written one since June started! Ops!

The theme for this week is: We’re halway through 2016. Choose your favorite book of the year so far.

Ok, I haven’t read many books yet this year. I have only read 14 books so far … College wouldn’t let me read whatever I wanted to read and, right now, even at home, I’m facing a terrible reading slump. But… I LVOED A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES SO MUCH! SARAH J. MAAS IS AMAZING!

Original cover and Favorite cover:

A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #1)

Least favorite cover: It’s not ugly and I am not saying that I hate it because, after all, I love the colors and the roses, but still… It’s too simpe compared to the original one.

Corte de Espinhos e Rosas (Corte de Espinhos e Rosas, #1)

Of course that ACOTAR is translated in many other countries, but they all kept the original covers. Some publisher changed certain details, like the colors, but they aren’t relevant.

Another post is coming! See you soon!

Book Traveling Thursdays- Can I be a kid again?

Hello, bookworms! How are you? Here I am again with this wonderful weekly meme!

The theme for this week is: Yesterday was International Children’s Day!! Choose a book you would read in your childhood if you could go back in time.

Man, I have chosen Harry Potter many times for this meme and I acutally started the Harry Potter experience when I was 11, so I was still a kid. I have also chosen The Little Prince for this meme, so… Oh, wait! I think I would read The Chronicles of Narnia, by C.S. Lewis! I read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe last year, in December, and I loved it so much! I wish someone had given those books to me when I was younger!

For this week, I’m going to show you the covers of The Magician’s Nephew. The author said that this is the first book of the series, even though he published The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe first.

Well, let’s do this!

Original cover: According to Wikipedia, this is the first edition.

TheMagiciansNephew(1stEd).jpg

Cover from your country (Portugal):

Favorite cover(s):

The Magician's Nephew
English edition.

The Magician's Nephew (The Chronicles of Narnia)
Another English edition- Ok, I think this one is actually pretty.

OMG, THIS DUTCH EDITION! SO MUCH BLUE, SO PRETTY! **

Least favorite cover(s): They all look meh.

THE MAGICIAN'S NEPHEW
English edition.
The Magician's Nephew (Chronicles of Narnia, #6)
English edition.

Племянник чародея
Russian edition: It’s not ugly and I actually like the colors. However, it looks too simply.

There are more posts coming soon, guys!!! See you soon!!!

Book Traveling Thursdays- MAKE THIS HAPPEN, PLEASE!

Hello again, bookworms! I told you I would write a weekly meme post!

Seriously, if you don’t participate in this weekly meme, you should! It’s awesome to search covers from other countries and compare them to the original cover! I think it’s cool.

I should have posted yesterday, but I had already written 2 posts and I decided to post this weekly meme today.

The theme for this week is: Choose a book you would want to see as a movie or TV show.

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan, I haven’t read the whole trilogy, but someone should definitely make a book-to-movie adaptation of Red Rising, by Pierce Brown! That book is SPECTACULAR! It’s one of the best Sci-Fi books I have read because it has everything: amazing writing style, the plot is freaking fantastic, and let’s talk about the character development! DAMN!

Yes, I need a Red Rising movie. Like… NOW!

Original cover: It’s a very simple cover, but I still like it!

Red Rising (Red Rising, #1)

Cover from your country (Portugal): IT LOOKS SO GOOD, DON’T YOU THINK?

Favorite cover(s): The Portuguese cover is a winner!

Least favorite cover(s):

  1. Polish edition (So. Damn. Weird.)
  2. Romanian edition (this doesn’t even have Sci-Fi vibes)
  3. Serbian edition (meh)

Red Rising: Złota krew (Red Rising, #1)

Furia Roșie (Red Rising Trilogy, #1)

Uspon Crvenog (Red Rising Trilogy, #1)

That’s it for today! What book(s) would you like to see as a movie or a tv show?

Book Traveling Thursdays: Pets, pets, PETS!

Heyyyyy, bookish people! How are you? Once again, I haven’t been posting here… Sorry… College just makes me feel like I want to procrastinate a lot, so… I procrastinate.

Anyway, here I am again with Book Traveling Thursdays!

This week’s theme is: “Everyone needs a companion. Choose your favorite bookish pet.”

I could choose the Harry Potter series, but I have posted the covers before, so for this I choose…. City of Bones (the first book of The Mortal Instruments series), by Cassandra Clare!!

I read it a couple of years ago, but I think there are only two pets, right? Well, here they are:

CJ Flowers, Church
SO CUTE!!!!
Photo CMeow 01
And here’s Chairman Meow. OMG, the name is awesome!

Original cover: I like the cover, I really do, but I’m glad that there are others now! And they are even better!

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1)

Cover(s) from your country (Portugal): There are two different covers.

Bu

A Cidade dos Ossos (Caçadores de Sombras, #1)
No. This is not a mistake. They really decided that they wanted Clary in City of Bones cover. Jace is the Portuguese cover of City of Ashes. But you should see the Portuguese editions. They are all shiny!!

Then, there’s the movie tie-in edition, which looks pretty nice!

Favorite cover(s): THEY ARE ALL AMAZING!!!! WOW!

Least favorite cover(s): A big no to all of them.

Město z kostí (Nástroje smrti, #1)
Czech edition
Miasto Kości (Dary Anioła, #1)
Polish edition: WHY DOES HE HAVE A TATTOO??? RUNES AREN’T TATTOOS!!!
Град от кости (Реликвите на смъртните, #1)
Bulgarian edition: OMG, I can’t even…

That’s it for today! What is your favorite bookish pet???

Book Traveling Thursdays- World Book Day is coming!!!

Helloooooo! I’ve been feeling tired due to college stuff lately, so that’s why I haven’t post here since last week. Sorry! But, well, here I am again!
I do hope I can post more next week. I promise I’ll try.

Oh, by the way, I got bookmail today! Of course I’m going to write a post about it, so stay tuned! ;D

This week’s theme is: World Book Day is in a couple of days! Choose one of your all-time favorite books.

Ok, I know UK has already celebrated World Book Day, but, in many countries, that day is on April 23, like here in Portugal. I just wanted to make this clear!

For today’s theme, I could choose a Harry Potter book, but I have already chosen those books in other themes, so for today, I choose… The Little Prince, by Antoine Saint-Exupéry! It’s such a magical book that can be read by anyone and it’s just has no time! It’s one of those books that stay forever in the History of mankind!

Original cover: It was first published in 1945!

Cover(s) from your country (Portugal): There are so many different Portuguese editions of this book and they are all beautiful! However, I’m only going to post 2- the one I have (the first picture) and one of the editions that I love!
I’m going to post other Portuguese editions below, for Favorite covers.

Favorite covers: THEY ALL LOOK SO BEAUTIFUL!

Here’s another Portuguese edition!
Il piccolo principe
Italian edition: They chose a different illustrstion for their cover!

Least favorite covers:

Малкият принц
Bulgarian edition: I really don’t like the colors… And his face looks too different from the original illustrations…
El Principito
Spanish edition: The beautiful illustrations are there, but this is just… Meh.
Mali princ
Croatian edition: The colors are pretty, but that’s it. I say hell no to this cover.

So, that’s it for this weekly meme! Tell me one of your all-time favorite books! 😀

Book Traveling Thursdays: And they lived happily ever after… Or not…

Here’s another post for today! Of course, here I am for another Book Traveking Thursday post! I love doing this because I search for cover editions in other countries and it’s amazing to see how creative (or not) they are.

This week’s theme is: Everything has an end! Choose your favorite conclusion to a series.

Damn, I have no idea! I mean, if I have already read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, it would be the perfect choice for this! Yes, I haven’t read it yet and, of course, I have already watched the movie. Actually, it was the only HP movie I ever watched in the cinema. But since I haven’t read it, I choose Mockingjay, by Suzanne Collins, the third and final installment of The Hunger Games trilogy!

Some people say this was the weakest book of all 3, but I disagree! It’s such a deep book and we finally see war and revolution and everyone fighting for their freedom! Of course I cried because of it (some characters that I love died, but let’s not talk about it), but I think it was a really nice last book of a trilogy! But… I DO NEED PREQUELS! WHERE ARE THEY????

Original cover:

Mockingjay (The Hunger Games, #3)

Cover(s) from your country: The first one is before the movie tie-in edition. I have the first cover, which I love, of course! But the movie tie-in cover looks awesome.

A Revolta (Os Jogos da Fome, #3)
I’m glad that they chose another shade of blue! I actually prefer this one!
So beautiful!

Favorite cover:

A Revolta (Os Jogos da Fome, #3)

Least favorite covers: I can’t believe that The Hunger Games trilogy has so many awful covers!

Revolt (Hungerspelstrilogin, #3)
What the hell, Sweden?
Сойка-пересмешница (Голодные игры, #3)
Russian edition: WHY DO YOU HAVE TO PUT COUPLES ON COVERS? WHYYYYYYYYYYYY?

There are so many other awful covers, but these are enough…. I don’t want to hurt my eyes anymore.

So, for you, what book is the best conclusion?

Book Traveling Thursdays-National Siblings Day is a few days away!

Heyyyy, bookish people! I know I told you yesterday that I would post my April TBR today. However, I’m going to do that tomorrow since it’s already a little bit late here and I still have to do this awesome meme! Seriously, if you have never done this, you should! It’s so  cool to find international covers and compare them!

Anyway, you can check my April TBR tomorrow! Now, let’s do this meme.

This week’s theme is: National Siblings Day is a few days away. Choose a book that has your favorite bookish siblings.

Well, for this, I could choose the Weasleys siblings, but I have chosen the Harry Potter series so many times for this meme, so let’s talk about Katniss and Primrose from The Hunger Games trilogy, by Suzanne Collins! Since I have chosen the first book for another theme, I’m going to post covers of Catching Fire!

Honestly, I love so much the special bond that Katniss has with her little sister Primrose. I really cried when I read Mockingjay… I do love this relationship because I also have a little sister and I would do anything to protect her and make her happy!

Original cover: SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2)

Cover(s) from your country (Portugal): I’m glad I have the original one, but the movie tie-in edition also looks good!

Em Chamas (Os Jogos da Fome, #2)

I told you that the movie tie-in looked amazing!

Favorite cover(s):

Em Chamas (Os Jogos da Fome, #2)

Tersulut - Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2)
The movie tie-in edition from Indonesia looks so good! When I saw this poster for the first time, I fell in love with it! It’s so beautiful!

Least favorite cover(s): God, there are so many covers that look so bad!

И вспыхнет пламя (Голодные игры, #2)
Russian edition: If Goodreads didn’t tell me this was a Russian edition of Catching Fire, I wouldn’t believe… What the hell were they thinking? This looks so bad! It has a Fantasy vibe, but it still looks so ugly and bad!
И вспыхнет пламя (Голодные игры, #2)
OMG, another bad Russian cover… Seriously, when will people understand that, yes, THG has romance, but it’s not about romance???? WHEN WILL PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THIS?
Fatta Eld (Hungerspelstrilogin, #2)
Swedish edition: I only have one word for this- mess. What the hell….

That’s it for today, guys! What are your favorite bookish siblings? 😀

Book Traveling Thursdays- “You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you.”

This week’s theme is: All of us have read Classics at some point of our life. Choose your favourite Classic.

It’s 2am right now, so this post is going to be very short! Anyway, of course I choose Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen! That novel is so goooooooooood! So wonderful!

Original cover: I have no idea how the original cover looked like, of course, so here’s the first page of the novel!

Cover(s) from your country (Portugal): This is a very important classic, so, of course, it has many different editions.

This is the one I have and I think they haven’t published another recent edition… At least, not yet! The cover is ok. I do love the colors and the building!
This is a hardcover, but with no dust jacket!
The movie tie-in cover. Sorry for the bad quality :\

I’m sure there are many more, but these ones are enough!

Favorite cover:

Pride and Prejudice
I like paintings, so I really like this cover!
Pride and Prejudice
Wow, this one looks good, too!
Pride and Prejudice
This hardcover! WOW!!!

Least favorite covers: OMG, there are so many bad cover… They are so ugly! It was hard to choose!

Pride and Prejudice
One of the many English editions: They didn’t even try… It’s a classic, but it doesn’t mean it should have a simple cover!
Pride and Prejudice
Another English edition: This looks like they had no idea what to do with the cover.
Kiêu hãnh và Định kiến
Vietnamese edition: Another one that looks like a mess… The colors are definitely not okay, and then the butterflies… What the hell…

I had such a busy week (exams, essays… you know, college life)! I still have to study for another exam and, then, my first round is over and I’m free to read whatever I want!

Anyway, what is your favorite classic?

Have a nice Friday! 😀
