New Fantastic Beasts poster!

Heyyyyy, bookworms! I am sorry that I don’t write much, but when I take too much time reading one book, I don’t usually blog a lot because I have nothing to say. Also, I have been feeling a little bit lazy and I was in a reading slump last week. I blame animes for that, by the way hahahaha.

But I am here woth bookish news!

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them was written by J. K. Rowling to help Comic Relief, a British charity organization that uses humor to fight poverty.

In the magical world created by Rowling, the book is one of the Harry Potter’s textbooks and it was written by Newt Scamander, an expert in magical animals who studied at Hogwarts. He was a Hufflepuff, by the way!

In September 2015, it was announced that this book would be adapted for the big screen. The director is David Yates, who was also responsible for the last four Harry Potter movies. J.K. Rowling and Steve Kloves wrote the script. Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Ezra Miller, Samantha Morton, Colin Farrell, Faith Wood-Blagrove and Jenn Murray are part of the main cast.

After they released pictures, a short video and an official trailer, they posted a new poster today on social media:

The movie will focus on the journey of Newt Scamander in New York in the 20s, after being expelled from Hogwarts. Scamander goes to the big American city with a suitcase full of fantastic monsters. However, when some of these monsters escape, he is forced to chase the exotic creatures, while avoiding the attention of No-Maj (the Americans who are not wizards; in the UK, the term that is used is Muggle, which is known by everyone who loves Harry Potter).

If you haven’t watched the trailer, here it is:

Are you excited about this movie?

A new YA adaptation is coming!!!

You probably already know this, but since this book is on my TBR list (also on my To-Buy list), I really would like to share this news: Everything, Everything, by Nicola Yoon, is going to have a movie!!

Okay, let’s first read its synopsis:

My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.

But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He’s tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.

Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.

By the way, did you know that this book has been on the bestseller list for SIX MONTHS? DAMN!!!!

Since I want to read more Contemporary books, I should definitely read this one.

Well, moving on! Other news: did you know that this adaptation already has a director? Yup, it has! Her name is Stella Meghie and yes, she is a black woman! this book has POC characters and was written by a POC female writer, so it’s fascinating that Meghie is the director!

Stella Meghie
Stella Meghie.

The director and Nicola Yoon have already expressed how happy they are with this new experience and they have shared how much this news means to them!

The script was written by J. Mills Goodloe, who also wrote the script of Age of Adaline. The producers are Les Morgenstein and Elysa Dutton of Alloy Entertainment Features.

Everything, Everything
This book was sold in 33 territories and 21 languages!

Who is excited about this news???

More books about Magnus Bane in 2017!

Yesterday on her social media, Cassandra Clare teased her fans by saying that she has a special project envolving a fan-favorite character, Magnus Banes, the High Warlock of Brooklyn.

Guyssss, Harry Shum Jr. is doing such a good job portraying Magnus Bane! ❤

Today, Entertainment Weekly announced Clare’s new project: she is going to write an Adul trilogy about Magnus Bane with Wesley Chu as co-writer. Chu is mostly known as the author of The Lives of Tao.

It was also confimed that the first book of this new trilogy is going to be released in November 2017.

Cassandra Clare has stated that she had explored Magnus Bane’s life in The Bane Chronicles, a book with eleven short stories written by Cassandra Clare, Maureen Johnson and Sarah Rees Brennana. Now, knowing that the fans love this “fun and fascinating” character, who is full of secrets of his parentage and the beginning of his relationship with Alec Lightwood, another loved character from Clare’s Shadowhunters novels, the author wants to explore more about this amazing Warlock with a fantastic personality.

The co-writer of this new trilogy, Wesley Chu, has expressed his excitement, saying that he is glad “to contribute to the world that Cassandra Clare has created”.

Well, I honestly can’t wait to see more of this character, despite the fact that I have only read the first three books of The Mortal Instruments series. I’m going to read the other three books this summer. I’m happy that I have someone in mind as Magnus Bane. Harry Shum Jr. is doing an incredible job and I think I guess say that the fans are definitely loving him.

Many fans are very happy with this new project. After all, it’s an Adult trilogy about the incredible Magnus Bane! However, there are some readers that have said that Cassandra Clare just wants more money. They say she is taking advantage of her LGBTQ fans by writing this trilogy about a bissexual character that has helped many LGBTQ people in real life. What I am trying to say is that she is only writing about Magnus Bane because she knows she can get more money from fans that can relate with this character.

I must say that I understand the readers that have this opinion, but let’s say that this is also something that many fans have asked for. It is no lie to say that Cassandra Clare’s fandom loves Magnus Bane, so I do believe that she is doing this not only for the money. But I also must say that she has been giving to much attention to Magnus and Alec, mostly, once again, because of their sexuality. I do think it’s amazing to have LGBTQ characters in literature, but when an author is trying to get money through them? Hmmm.

Anyway, I do believe that Cassandra Clare loves her characters and I do know that many people are happy with this news.

Well, what do you think of this new project? Do you also think that she is only doing this to get more money? Or because she loves her fans and wants to give them what they want? I mean, I guess it’s a little bit of both, right? Anyway, you can leave a comment about your opinion on this new trilogy!

Throne of Glass news!!!

Heyyyyy, bookish people! How are you?
Today was a big, wonderful day for those who love Throne of Glass series, by Sarah J. Maas! From her, I have only read A Court of Thorns and Roses (a.k.a ACOTAR), which is the first book of her new trilogy, and I FREAKING LOVED IT!!!!! I CAN’T WAIT TO READ THE SECOND BOOK!
But let’s talk about the title for the 5th book of Throne of Glass series, shall we?

Here you can read the Goodreads synopsis of Throne of Glass, the first book. I am only posting this one because the synopsis of the following books, of course, have spoilers! Here it is:

After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin.

Her opponents are men-thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the king’s council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she’ll serve the kingdom for four years and then be granted her freedom. Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilirating. But she’s bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her… but it’s the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.

Then one of the other contestants turns up dead… quickly followed by another. Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.

This series has SO MUCH HYPE!!!! There are so many people that love it! THey love the writing, the characters, the plot, EVERYTHING! And it seems that the first one, until now, it’s the weakest book. Can you imagine this? I hear/read so many good things about the first book, and you’re telling me that it gets better and better in the other books? FABULOUS!

As I said, I have only read ACOTAR, but I really cannot wait to read Throne of Glass! I have it already (I’m talking about the first book, of course) and I haven’t read it yet because there are always other books that I have to read first. But I really want to read it this summer!

Ok, enoug of this, now! Let me show you why there are so many people that are happy with the Throne of Glass news- The fandom already knows the title for the 5th book, which doesn’t have a cover yet. However, here is the title:

OMG, Sarah, you really know how to create such beautiful titles! Here are the titles of all the Throne of Glass books: Throne of Glass, Crown of Midnight, Heir of Fire, Queen of Shadowns, and now Empire of Storms. And the novellas’ book also has such a badass title: The Assassin’s Blade. DAMN, GIRL!!!!!

By the way, here is the release date of Empire of Storms: September 6th 2016.

So, guys, what do you think of this news? Do you love the title? Do you love her books? 😀

Happy release day, Lady Midnight!!

Hello, bookish people! How are you?

As you can see, Lady Midnight, the first book of Cassandra Clare’s new series, The Dark Artifices, is finally out!

Lady Midnight (The Dark Artifices #1)
This is one of the best covers I have seen in my whole life!!!

This is really good news for Cassandra Clare’s fans. I must say that I really like her books, although I have only read the first 3 The Mortal Instruments books. Anyway, I realy enjoyed them and I can’t wait to read the other books, which are already on my shelf. I also already have Clockwork Angel, the first book of The Infernal Devices, a prequel series to TMI.

I’m happy for anyone who has been waiting for this. I have heard this is the first novel that CC has released since 2 years ago! Wow!
I’m just not happy with hateful people… I have seen some saying things like: “Wow, Cassandra, this is enough! Write something new!; “Clare, please, stop. This is getting annoying. Write something original”. I mean, how dare you to say these things to a writer? A writer can do whatever they want with the worlds they created or characters! If they are happy with it, why so much hate? I know many people think that this is a way for CC to get more money, and in some way, maybe it is, but I do believe that she loves to write about Shadowhunters and Downworlders and that’s it! She has inspired so many people with her books and I’m sure she will inspire even more with these other series foccused on Shadowhunters. Do you know why I am saying this? Because she is doing something she is passionate about: writing and being creative.

So, if you, reader, are one of these people who say these mean things, I must say I don’t agree with you. If you don’t want the book, just don’t buy it or read it. Actually, I’m sure there are SO MANY PEOPLE that really want this book. I’m sure that MANY PEOPLE are going to read it and enjoy it and love it. And I’m glad that Cassandra Clare makes this people happy. I’m glad that this writer makes herself happy. Period.

Sorry for this lecture, but it annoys me that people say such hateful things without reason. To hate and to criticize are totally different things.

Anyway, if you’re going to read it, I hope you enjoy it!

For those who don’t know what this is about, here’s the Goodreads synopsis:

The Shadowhunters of Los Angeles star in the first novel in Cassandra Clare’s newest series, The Dark Artifices, a sequel to the internationally bestselling Mortal Instruments series. Lady Midnight is a Shadowhunters novel.

It’s been five years since the events of City of Heavenly Fire that brought the Shadowhunters to the brink of oblivion. Emma Carstairs is no longer a child in mourning, but a young woman bent on discovering what killed her parents and avenging her losses.

Together with her parabatai Julian Blackthorn, Emma must learn to trust her head and her heart as she investigates a demonic plot that stretches across Los Angeles, from the Sunset Strip to the enchanted sea that pounds the beaches of Santa Monica. If only her heart didn’t lead her in treacherous directions…

Making things even more complicated, Julian’s brother Mark—who was captured by the faeries five years ago—has been returned as a bargaining chip. The faeries are desperate to find out who is murdering their kind—and they need the Shadowhunters’ help to do it. But time works differently in faerie, so Mark has barely aged and doesn’t recognize his family. Can he ever truly return to them? Will the faeries really allow it?

Glitz, glamours, and Shadowhunters abound in this heartrending opening to Cassandra Clare’s Dark Artifices series.

Have you already got Lady Midnight? Are you excited about it?

For those who got the book, here’s a kiss! I’m happy for you!

Colleen Hoover strikes again!!!

Heyyyyy, bookish people! How are you? I hope you are well and enjoying whatever you are reading!

Today, I’m here to talk about the new cover of Colleen Hoover’s new novel, It Ends with Us! It was released last Friday on her social media and, oh my, it looks beautiful!

Even though I have only read Hopeless and Losing Hope (which means that there are “many” books of her that I still need to read), I really can’t wait to have this one! The cover looks so GOOD, and the plot sounds SO GOOD, as well!!!
Here’s the Goodreads synopsis:

Lily hasn’t always had it easy but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up. She graduated from college, moved to Boston and started her own business so when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon name Ryle Kincaid everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true. Ryle is assertive, stubborn, and maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant and has a total soft spot for Lily and the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head, but Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his no dating rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place. As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan, her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

With this bold and deeply personal novel Colleen Hoover delivers a heart wrenching story that breaks exciting new ground for her as a writer. Combining a captivating romance with a cast of all too human characters, “It Ends with Us” is an unforgettable tale of love that comes at the ultimate price.

I actually didn’t know this was going to be an Adult novel! Anyway, I’m still interested in it because, well, WE ARE TALKING ABOUT COLLEEN FREAKING HOOVER!
Also, let me talk about the cover again: Isn’t it interesting that the flowers look, like “broken”? Well, more correctly, ripped? And there’s another awesome detail: there are 3 flowers and the synopsis talks about 3 people! Holy crap, I love when covers have messages, you know? So cool!

Release date: 12th August 2016 (damnnnnnn, there are still like, 5, 6 months left!)

So, what about you? Do you like Colleen Hoover’s books? Are you interested in this one?

Cover reveal: Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows #2), by Leigh Bardugo

Hello, bookish people!! I’m so sorry that I haven’t posted much lately… College is making me feel lazy and I have so many papers to read… and books, of course. Actually, I’m still reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix! I don’t know what is going on with me because I should have finished it already…

Anyway, I’m sorry for the lack of posts, but here I am now! Today you are going to read two posts! The first one is this cover reveal:

Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows, #2)
The cover of the second and last installment of Six of Crows, by Leigh Bardugo.

Goodreads synopsis: Kaz Brekker and his crew have just pulled off a heist so daring even they didn’t think they’d survive. But instead of divvying up a fat reward, they’re right back to fighting for their lives. Double-crossed and left crippled by the kidnapping of a valuable team member, the crew is low on resources, allies, and hope. As powerful forces from around the world descend on Ketterdam to root out the secrets of the dangerous drug known as jurda parem, old rivals and new enemies emerge to challenge Kaz’s cunning and test the team’s fragile loyalties. A war will be waged on the city’s dark and twisting streets―a battle for revenge and redemption that will decide the fate of magic in the Grisha world.

I have only read one Leigh Bardugo’s book, which is Shadow and Bones, the first book of the Grisha trilogy. I freaking loved it, although I only gave it 4 out of 5 stars. That’s because I really didn’t like Alina, the main character, in the first half of the book.
I haven’t read the other books yet because the first one was published here in Portugal, I bought it and I have always been waiting for the second book. However, this Portuguese publisher is very famous for stopping publishing series, and this happend to the Grisha trilogy. I hope I buy the others soon.

Anyway, what I really want to have on my bookshelf is the freaking Six of Crows, the first book of her new duology. I haven’t read/heard any negative reviews yet! I mean, everyone is saying that it’s her best book! And you don’t have to read the trilogy if you want to read this new duology, by the way.
I hope that I get Six of Crows soon because Crooked Kingdom, which now has such a PHENOMENAL COVER, OMG!, is going to be released on September 22nd. I really hope that, by then, I have read Six of Crows.

If you haven’t read Six of Crows and you don’t know what it’s about, here’s the Goodreads synopsis and its cover:

Six of Crows (Six of Crows, #1)

Goodreads synopsis: Ketterdam: a bustling hub of international trade where anything can be had for the right price—and no one knows that better than criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker. Kaz is offered a chance at a deadly heist that could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams. But he can’t pull it off alone…

A convict with a thirst for revenge.

A sharpshooter who can’t walk away from a wager.

A runaway with a privileged past.

A spy known as the Wraith.

A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums.

A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes.

Kaz’s crew are the only ones who might stand between the world and destruction—if they don’t kill each other first.

The Six of Crows‘s cover is absolutely stunning and I though it would be difficult for the second installment to have a better cover. But I was wrong. THIS ONE IS EVEN MORE BEAUTIFUL!!!! I FREAKING LOVE IT! UGHHHH, I NEED SIX OF CROWS ASAP!

For those who have read this book and are waiting for Crookef Kingdom, here’s an article where Leigh Bardugo revealed plot details:

Have you read Six of Crows already? Did you enjoy it? What do you think of Crooked Kingdom‘s cover?

Amazing news about Harry Potter!!!

Last year, it was announced that Jack Thorne would write a play based on the fantastic, magical world created by JK Rowling. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which will be split into two parts, will debut in London on 30th July this year.
So, of course, every single Potterhead freaked out, even though many of them (like myself) can’t see the play.

OMG, this quote is kind of perfect for this.

Look at the official art for the play. STUNNING!

O regresso de Harry Potter jĂĄ tem data marcada

Also, here’s the official synopsis:

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

JK Rowling is one of the scrip writers and she has shown her satisfaction regarding the choice of actors to play Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley.

Cursed Child cast photo 1
Jamie Parker (Harry Potter), Noma Dumezweni (Hermione Granger) and Paul Thornley (Ron Weasley).

As there are many fans who don’t have the opportunity to see the play (yup, that’s sad), there have been rumors that, maybe, the play would become a book. And today this idea was confirmed: the eighth story of Harry Potter, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, will be launched on July 31, day of the protagonist’s birthday and JK Rowling’s. The book is not a novel, but the adaptation of the play mentioned above, written by Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, with the help of the creator of the magical world.

It doesn’t have an official cover, but it could be this because it looks so beautiful:

Embedded image permalink

But 2016 is not the only year filled with fabulous news about Harry Potter. After all, 2017 marks the 20th anniversary of the UK publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. To celebrate, the first book of the collection will have four new editions, each dedicated to each Hogwarts house: Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Slytherin and Hufflepuff. It is in this same year that there will be new editions of Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them (which will include new content by JK Rowling), The Tales of Beedle the Bard and the Quidditch Through the Ages.

Yes, where’s the money? :c

Also in 2016, the illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets will be released in October. Once again, the illustrator is Jim Kay, who did a beautiful job in the illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

Jim Kay is going to do an amazing job again!

Cover reveal: Furthermore, by Tahereh Mafi

After the success of Tahereh Mafi’s series, Shatter Me, the author is ready for another adventure. This time, she is going to release a Middle-Grade book this year, on 30th August. The book has already a title, Furthermore, and also a very interesting synopsis (taken from Goodreads):

“The bestselling author of the Shatter Me series takes readers beyond the limits of their imagination in this captivating new middle grade adventure where color is currency, adventure is inevitable, and friendship is found in the most unexpected places.

There are only three things that matter to twelve-year-old Alice Alexis Queensmeadow: Mother, who wouldn’t miss her; magic and color, which seem to elude her; and Father, who always loved her. The day Father disappears from Ferenwood he takes nothing but a ruler with him. But it’s been almost three years since then, and Alice is determined to find him. She loves her father even more than she loves adventure, and she’s about to embark on one to find the other.

But bringing Father home is no small matter. In order to find him she’ll have to travel through the mythical, dangerous land of Furthermore, where down can be up, paper is alive, and left can be both right and very, very wrong. Her only companion is a boy named Oliver whose own magical ability is based in lies and deceit—and with a liar by her side in land where nothing is as it seems, it will take all of Alice’s wits (and every limb she’s got) to find Father and return home to Ferenwood in one piece. On her quest to find Father Alice must first find herself—and hold fast to the magic of love in the face of loss.”

This looks like such a beautiful story, indeed!

Her fans have waited so long to see the cover of Mafi’s new book and, finally, it was revealed by EW, Enternainment Weekly magazine:

It’s such a very beautiful cover! So colorful! It’s totally perfect for middle-graders!

Everything looks so cute, but look at that fox! OMG! Ok, I need this book.

Her fan base is basically young-adults, but everyone is excited to read Furthermore!

Personally, I’ve never read her books, but I really want to! I hope I get Shatter Me this year! And maybe Furthermore!

So, what do you think about the cover?

By the way, you should read this EW’s article because there is a little interview with Tahereh Mafi! Click here to read it.
